In 2007, the Florence County Historical Society officially opened the historical museum at 201 Florence Avenue. Three permanent exhibits and several newly designed exhibits are featured each season. A special area has been set aside to honor our veterans. A vast picture collection from the county’s eight townships can be viewed at the museum.
New exhibits are developed over the winter months. The 2025 new exhibit in the military room is about Vietnam, highlighting Martin Neuens, a POW; Ron Ruoho, on the Wall in DC; & Edward Mouw, a guerilla trainer for those going to Vietnam. The larger room is featuring the Riverside Supper Club's history and the five Forest Fire Lookouts constructed in Florence County during the 1930's. This tower is the Long Lake Tower.
